I saw this advertisement on the back of a Reject Apathy magazine and thought it was a very nice reminder. Check 'em out! They are doing some really great stuff!

They focus on seven different needs of the world and have a pretty great website.

We are committing to purchasing only fair trade or recycled clothing for the year 2011.

What is fair trade? Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world. By requiring companies to pay sustainable prices (which must never fall lower than the market price), fair trade addresses the injustices of conventional trade, which traditionally discriminates against the poorest, weakest producers. What do we mean by recycled clothing? We consider clothing recycled when it is resold in a secondhand store. It's recycled because instead of people throwing out old clothes, they have donated it to a charity to be used again instead of being thrown out.

Why are we doing this? 1) to support fair conditions for workers in the developing world, 2) to rethink how we spend our money, 3) to think critically about our relationship with consumerism, and 4) to encourage and challenge you to also rethink the way you shop.
