Uh...a whole year?

Today I had a bit of a panic.  I decided to join my daughters in a year long pursuit of  fair trade purchasing.  Fair trade, just what does that mean?   Sounds like a good cause, and the concept of helping producers in developing countries get fair wages seems only fair, right?  Now in giving what this really means to me some real thought, well, thus the panic.  For me, one who loves to shop, it means no mall trips picking up cute items, no browsing through the discount stores for the best buy, no mall shopping trips for fun with my girls, no cute shoes or summer sandals when it gets warm, no wonderful sales in January and July, and really no super duper midnight shopping after Thanksgiving this year. Now, do you understand the panic?

Despite this frenzy, I do love a challenge. Using what I already have in my closet for a full year is for sure going to prove to be a really good exercise for me. I already have far beyond enough.

Plus another big appeal for me comes in joining my daughters on a worthwhile cause, and the truth is I consume too much anyway.

So journey with us on this challenge.  I may need some counseling when that new fashion is flaunted in my face or there may be some prying my hands off a new pair of shoes.  I understand that parts of the rules are that I can’t ask my son to go purchase something for me. So today, I freely take the challenge, but stayed tuned as I may go through some serious withdrawal as I realize I am NOT going shopping.
